Iran, Austria Discuss JCPOA, Bilateral Ties

Ranking diplomats from Iran and Austria discussed various issues in a telephone conversation, including the 2015 nuclear deal and the bilateral relations between Tehran and Vienna.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Seyed Abbas Araqchi and Secretary-General for Foreign Affairs in Austria’s Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs Peter Launsky-Tieffenthal discussed a range of issues in a telephone conversation, Iran’s envoy to Vienna said Monday.
The two diplomats stressed the need to maintain the integrity of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in the phone call, the Iranian ambassador said.
Araqchi and Launsky-Tieffenthal also discussed the latest international developments and the issues of mutual interest in the bilateral relations between Iran and Austria, and agreed to continue the consultations.
In a telephone conversation with his Austrian counterpart in May, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called for international cooperation to tackle the coronavirus pandemic and expressed readiness to share experiences with Austria in this regard.
In September 2015, former President of Austria Heinz Fischer came to Tehran for an official visit to become the first head of a Western state visiting Iran for many years. |
